I picked up a literary journal for the first time in years.

They came into my possession as a by product of trolling for books to sell online. I picked a copy of AGNI (the Boston University Literary Magazine)and a couple copies of The New England Review from, of all places, the Brookfield Municipal Transfer Station. (The collection of guys that run the place are a topic for another day -- lets say that there is nothing so refreshing as true Yankee red-necks.)

Either I am growing both culturally and literally illiterate, as well as impatient at 35 or most of it so intentionally obfuscates that it is irredeemably obtuse. (Yea-gads, I've been infected)

Perhaps I just lack self control. I required three revisions of the above non-parenthetical sentance not to use the terms "drivel" and "crap".

Fortunately for me Word does know how to spell obfuscate, because I could not.

Now if it was me, I would have stuck with crap and drivel, and thrown in a pretentious or two, just for the hell of it.

But I'm a genre hack and utterly without shame. ;)

three cheers.....

Sorry, Cuz, the words aren't needless: They need them at their cents per word rate to make rent. Shovel in enough and they can get some furniture too!

...dude...looked more like cents per letter, with bonus dimes for convoluted syntax.

To quote Random House "Stylish is generally poor style....."

Woof.

Actually, some of the later pieces in the same magazine were worth reading, it was only the editor that was occupied in mental masturbation set down in the written word.

I was griping as I am making the first noises at writing again. Picked up a couple of these journal as part of book scavenging and my initial shock almost drove me out of them before I found the redeeming pieces.

Funny you should write. I had been thinking about you REALLY HARD the last week or so. But I don't have your email and was **embarassed** to admit so to netcurmudgeon.

I'm blcough at gmail period com. Ping me when you have a couple of minutes.
